As well as being packed full of protein and wholefoods, we've also included several superfoods in our products. Superfoods are foods rich in phytonutrients, and these can be found in abundance in nature. Phyto means plant in Greek and these phytonutrients help protect plants from free radicals that can damage or attack them.
In humans, when we exercise we put our bodies under oxidative stress and this produces similar free radicals (or oxidants). To counter this we need anti-oxidants, and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities are among the benefits of phytonutrients found in these superfoods.
Four of the superfoods we use are:
Goji berries which contain vitamin C, vitamin B2, vitamin A, iron, selenium and other antioxidants.
Chia seeds for omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fibre, antioxidants and calcium.
Maca powder contains significant amounts of amino acids, carbohydrates, and minerals including calcium, phosphorous, zinc, magnesium, iron, as well as vitamins B1, B2, B12, C and E.
Cocao beans are a good source of iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous and zinc. They also contain the antioxidants catechins and procyanidins.
